Prof. Hossain holds the prestigious NSRIC Chair in Sustainable Energy at the Engineering Unit of the OE Division and serves as an adjunct professor at several esteemed universities worldwide. He is the visionary behind the NSRIC International School in Toronto (NIST), NSRIC International College in Toronto (NICT), and the World Association of Nature Science, Education, and Engineering (WANSEE). His educational initiatives reflect his mission to nurture a new generation of leaders committed to sustainability, innovation, and business.
As an entrepreneur, Prof. Hossain has founded multiple ventures, including NSRIC Green Supplies Inc., a company dedicated to advancing green technologies and sustainable practices. Through his leadership, NSRIC Green Supplies Inc. is transforming industries by offering eco-friendly solutions that align with the global push for environmental responsibility.

Prof. Hossain also managed Aziza Consulting and Construction Ltd during his entrepreneurial journey in Bangladesh and Bright Coral in Canada. His philanthropic endeavours extend through the Aziza Trust, the charitable organization he founded in 2009, which supports underprivileged students through the NSRIC Education City in Chattogram, Bangladesh. Furthermore, in 2022, he established the World Association of Nature Science, Education, and Engineering (WANSEE), a non-profit entity that caters to professionals in any field.
Prof. Hossain’s academic career is marked by excellence and innovation. He has held key positions at renowned institutions such as Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN), King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), and Dalhousie University. His pioneering petroleum engineering and sustainable energy research has earned over $16.9 million in research funding from prominent organizations, including Statoil, Saudi Aramco, NSTIP, and NSERC.
Among his remarkable achievements, Prof. Hossain introduced the “memory concept” for petroleum applications, leading to 11 U.S. patents, several of which are currently being commercialized. His extensive contributions to scientific literature include over 200 research articles and 10 books on sustainability and petroleum engineering, published by renowned publishers such as Elsevier and Wiley.
Prof. Hossain’s academic credentials are as impressive as his professional achievements. He earned a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) in 1995 and an MSc in Petroleum and Mineral Resources Engineering through a collaborative program between BUET and the University of Alberta in 2001. He completed a PhD in Sustainable Petroleum Engineering in 2008 and an MBA in 2009, both from Dalhousie University, Nova Scotia, Canada.
